SEBI
The Securities and Exchange Board of India, the regulator for the securities market.
SEBI was established in 1992 and is responsible for protecting investor interests, regulating intermediaries (brokers, AMCs, RIAs), and developing the securities market. It sets the rules for mutual funds, IPOs, listed company disclosures, and derivatives trading. A SEBI-registered Investment Adviser (RIA) operates under stricter conduct rules than a mutual fund distributor. Every public market product mentioned in this glossary is regulated by SEBI.
